Sharing some more videos

Just sharing a few videos I made in 2023.
Everything was done inside Ableton/EBO, and then exported via OBS/Blackhole.
Thanks again to the EBO team for such a great, fun product!
Cheers!

Curious would you ever do a breakdown video on some of the things you commonly do? Have you ever found a way to search youtube for source video via words in the transcript?

Hey! I have made some short guides on the more technical parts of my process (just so I donā€™t forget how to do it), but it would be fun to make videos for some things (how to split stems, creating Alpha channels, eSimpler, exports, etc.) Iā€™ll definitely think about thatā€¦ In the meantime, if you have any specific questions I would be happy to try to answer.

There used to be more search tools, but I think Youtube shut them down. Somehow this one is still going: https://filmot.com I find the 'Manual Subtitle" search seems to be more useful.

Curious how you start - like do you have a song in mind or find a vid with someone singing? Do you tend to strip out all the background music to just get the singer etc? Like honestly your stuff seems way more cohesive musicallyā€¦ when Iā€™ve looked for songs that are just acapella or vocals only Iā€™m getting way more modern stuff that I donā€™t even want to touch.

Thanks for the link - itā€™s helpful; I want to try to build up a song via the lyric but using talking heads

I often start with an idea or genre like ā€œHindi musicā€ or ā€œspace rockā€, and just start surfing. During the early part of the search there are usually a few clips that really appeal to me (usually because they are visually interesting and have a great sound or melody) and they start to become the musical ā€œthemeā€ of the track. Then as I continue to search, Iā€™ll focus on finding samples that fit that theme. I definitely care about how the clips look, but Iā€™m a little more focused on the sound/music while I collect the samples.

Iā€™ve used stem splitters for a long time to isolate baselines, vocals, etc. I used to use some commercial products, but then moved to Spleeter and now Demucs (because free & open-source,) and they work nearly as well as the paid stuff. Depending on what instrument or sound I need from the video clip, Iā€™ll split the audio, and then put it back together in Davinci Resolve (also gives me an opportunity to upscale or crop, and tune the color.) I use most of a clipā€™s original audio wherever possible, but Iā€™ll often strip out drums or bass if it will clash with other samples.

That sounds like a great idea! You could also ā€˜tuneā€™ the samples with transpose or a vocoder, and/or put them into drum racks with eSamplers. Iā€™ve always thought it would be fun to create lyrics this way. Good luck!
