Preview videoclip before output

Hello guys,

I would like to preview a videoclip before going to the ebosuite output on my beamer. Than I will know what i have before the crowd sees it.

Hi Erwin,
The eOutput plug-ins gives you the option to use a preview window. Just put the eOutput on the master track and enable the Preview window toggle.

You can read more about eOutput here:

Yes Jeroen, But can I monitor a video before I put IT to the public?

Ah sorry, so not the main output but the output of just one track?

That Is not supported yet, but there are few ways to create a preview window for single tracks.

The easiest way is to use the eVideoSend plug-in to send the output of a track to Syphon recorder and use that application as a preview window. You can open multiple instances of this application to create multiple preview windows.
Download Syphon recorder here: https://6a64.xyz/downloads/Syphon%20Recorder.zip

Unfortunately the Syphon recorder window will not stay on top of Ableton Live when you work in Live. But you can create a video preview with eVideoIn, that will stay on top. That is a bit more complicated, but still pretty easy. To do this you’ll need two apps:
NDISyphon and NDI Virtual Input (part of NDI tools). You can download them here:.
https://www.vidvox.net/download/NDISyphon_r3.dmg
https://go.ndi.tv/tools-for-mac

With the NDISyphon app you can turn a Syphon stream into an NDI stream. With the NDI Virtual Input you can turn an NDI stream into a video input for the eVideoIn plug-in. You can then use the eVideoIn’s preview window to see that stream, floating on top of Ableton Live.

Add an eVideoSend plug-in on any track to send it to the NDISyphon app.

Note that you can record EboSuite’s output with the eVideoIn plug-in this way, which is pretty cool.

If you want to be a bit more flexible a send the output of different tracks on the fly to the preview output window, then I suggest to use the track Send/Returns or Grouping. You can do that this way:

Option 1: using track Send/Returns

  • put an eReturnTrack plug-in on a return track.
  • add an eVideoSend on that return track.
  • you should receive its Syphon output in the NDISyphon app and the NDI Virtual Input app should turn that NDI stream into a virtual instrument
  • receive the NDI stream in the eVideoIn plug-in and use its preview window to see the visual output of the return track
  • use the track Send/Return dials to send the visual output of different tracks to the preview window

Option 2:

  • put an eVideoSend on each track you want to preview
  • create a track with an eVideoReceive plug-in for each track you want to preview. Make sure each eVideoReceive is paired with an eVideoSend
  • create a Group of the eVideoReceive tracks
  • add an eGroup plug-in on the Group track and set its volume slider to almost 0 (so it is not visible, but the layer is not disabled (happens when the slider reaches 0).
  • add an eVideoSend on that Group track
  • you should receive its Syphon output in the NDISyphon app and the NDI Virtual Input app should turn that NDI stream into a virtual instrument
  • receive the NDI stream in the eVideoIn plug-in and use its preview window to see the visual output of the Group
  • use the Stream Enable toggle in the eVideoReceive plug-ins to determine which stream is visible in the Group output
  • to create a better overview of these toggles, map them to the ‘Simple One-Button Macro 2.0’ Max for Live device (download link below), to put them all on one track, on the track with the video source or anywhere else.

I created an example project, ,maybe you’ll find it useful. This project is made with Live 11.2.7 and EboSuite 2.1. You can download it here:
